The City of Manassas Park has a contract agreement with Patriot Disposal, a private solid waste collection company that services residential and municipal customers. (See recycling and trash collection guidelines below.)

The regular scheduled day for trash and recycling collection is Wednesday. Trash may be placed at the curb no earlier that 5:00pm Tuesday evening and no later than 7:00am Wednesday morning. Trash collection begins at 7:00am and is usually completed by 4:00pm. (NEW RESIDENTS-- please see note below.)

 HOLIDAYS, INCLEMENT WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS

HOLIDAYS:  Patriot Disposal will provide service on all holidays that fall on regularly-scheduled collection days except for 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  When a designated collection day falls on one of these holidays, uncollected trash and/or recyclables will be collected on the specific date posted on the City website.  

INCLEMENT WEATHER:  In the event that inclement weather prevents Patriot Disposal from providing service on a regularly-scheduled collection day, uncollected trash and recyclables will be removed on the next regularly-scheduled collection day. 

ROAD CONDITIONS:  Patriot Disposal will not collected refuse or recyclables from any homes located on roads that are deemed impassable due to construction, construction vehicles, parked cars, or other obstructions or conditions.  Uncollected trash and recyclables will be removed on the next regularly-scheduled collection day. 

YARD DEBRIS AND BULK ITEM PICK UP 

YARD DEBRIS:  Grass clippings and yard debris will be picked up from the curb each week.  Yard debris is defined as grass clippings, leaves and hedge trimmings.  Grass clippings must be placed in paper bags, or in a separate container clearly marked “yard waste.”  Yard waste put out at the curb in plastic bags will not be picked up. 

The weight limit for yard waste bags is 35 lbs. per bag or container. Hedge trimmings or brush with limbs must be less than 4” in diameter, cut into 4’ lengths, tied in small bundles or bagged. Bundles of brush can be no larger than 2' in diameter. 

Yard debris does not include stumps, whole trees, or clean-up from storm damage.

BULK ITEM PICK UP:  Large/small furniture items and appliance pick-up must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling 703-393-0881 or emailing public.works@manassasparkva.gov.  Weight and quantity of items is limited.  No more than 3 bulk items may be placed at the curb at one time.  Please refer to the Curbside Trash and Recycling Guidelines link below or contact the Department of Public Works at 703-393-0881 between the hours of 7:00am - 3:30pm, Mon. - Fri. for more information.  Please note, refrigeration appliances must have Freon removed (and tagged) by a certified refrigeration appliance professional to be eligible for curbside pick-up.  Requests received after 1:00pm on Tuesday will be scheduled for the following week.

NEW RESIDENTS: When you open a water/sewer account with the City of Manassas Park, your trash/recycling collection will begin automatically. If trash or recycling carts did not convey with your home purchase/lease, please contact the Dept. of Public Works (703) 393-0881 or call Patriot Disposal (703) 257-7100 to request delivery of new carts. Each single family home will be provided (1) 96 gallon trash cart and (1) 64 gallon recycling cart. Please be advised that trash and recycling carts are owned by Patriot Disposal and should remain at the property when vacated.
