Important Information About Reassessment for 2010
The next reassessment of real estate will have an effective date of July 1, 2010, that will affect the fiscal year (FY) 2010-2011 budget for the City.
For property owners this means that the 2009 assessment for your property will be used to calculate the real estate tax due June 7, 2010. Upon reassessment for 2010 (effective July 1, 2010), the new assessments will be used to calculate the real estate taxes for FY 2010-2011 that will be due in two installments (due December 6, 2010, and June 6, 2011).
In mid-April the 2010 Notices of Assessment will be mailed to all owners of real estate in the City notifying them of new assessments that will become effective July 1, 2010. The notice will include the deadlines for challenging the new assessments to the Office of the City Assessor and the Board of Equalization.
In April 2010 the Governing Body will hold a public hearing and set the real estate tax rate for FY 2010-2011 that will be levied against the 2010 assessments.
