Fire and Rescue Equipment

The newest addition to the Manassas Park Fire and Rescue apparatus roster is Medic 509-B, a 2009 Ford F450 built by PL Custom. This medic unit is joined by Medic 509-A, a 2003 Ford F450 built by Wheeled Coach.

Engine company operations are handled by two Pierce engines. Engine 509 is a 2008 Pierce Enforcer equipped with a 1500 gallon per minute pump, 750 gallons of water, and 40 gallons of foam. Engine 509-B is another Pierce, a 1996 Pierce Quantum model. It is equipped with a 1500gpm pump carries 500 gallons of water and 40 gallons of foam.

Quint 509 is a multi-functional unit and the Department’s first aerial device. Equipped with a 100' aerial tower, the 2004 Pierce Dash is also equipped with a 2000 gallon per minute pump, 370 gallons of water, and carries 30 gallons of foam.

Other equipment operated by Manassas Park include a HAZMAT Support Trailer which is supplied and ready to support regional HAZMAT and suppression teams with the mitigation of hazardous material incidents.  Our senior staff members are supported by a 2010 Chevy Tahoe for the Chief, a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe for Operations Captain, and a 2005 Chevy Impala is assigned to the Fire Marshal’s office. In addition, Utility 509 is a 1994 Ford F250 is utilized for hauling equipment back from significant incidents and hauling the HAZMAT Support Trailer when dispatched.

In an effort to keep our equipment current, reliable, and cost effective the Department has instituted a vehicle replacement plan.  In a small Department, such as Manassas Park Fire & Rescue having a piece of apparatus that is not mechanically reliable, results in our inability to respond to incidents in accordance with the Department’s mission statement.  So when a vehicle begins to see more time in the shop and is not operational, we must consider replacing it.  The costs associated with a replacement vehicle can often times be less expensive than the on going costs of maintenance and repairs that older apparatus often require.
