Mission: To perform all duties prescribed by the laws of the Commonwealth relating to the assessment of property and taxes in a fair and equitable manner.  To diligently and carefully maintain all records in this office to ensure they are accurate and thorough to the best of our knowledge and ability.

The Commissioner of the Revenue's primary responsibility is assessing the value of personal property, business personal property, machinery & tools, issuing business licenses, and processing State Income Tax returns. This Office also maintains owner records for real estate parcels.

Real Estate Tax Relief

Eligible elderly and disabled homeowners may qualify for deferral or exemption from paying real estate taxes. Real estate tax relief is provided for qualified property owners.  To qualify, a resident must be 65 years of age by July 1st or be permanently and totally disabled, have a family income of less than $50,000 for full relief or between $50,001 and $60,000 for partial relief, AND have a net worth not exceeding $150,000.  The Commissioner of Revenue's Office is available to assist those citizens wishing to apply for Real Estate Tax Relief by accepting their applications. Applications must be filed by April 1 every year.
