Thinking about installing a new fence?
A building permit is not required to install fencing on residential sites. The location and size, however, must meet the requirements of the zoning ordinance.
City of Manassas Park, Zoning Ordinance, Section 31-31. Fences and visual obstructions.
(a) Fences: The setback and yard requirements of this chapter shall not be deemed to prohibit any fence, wall or hedge which is less than four (4) feet high; however, a fence or wall along the rear lot line or along a side lot line to the rear of the required front setback line may be erected to a height not exceeding seven (7) feet.
(b) Visual obstructions: On a corner lot, no sign, fence, wall, hedge, planting, or other obstruction to vision exceeding a height of three (3) feet above center-line grades of the intersecting streets shall be erected, planted, or maintained within a distance of twenty (20) feet in either direction from the corner.
